Cursillo: The Cursillo in Christianity is primarily a lay movement. It is an instrument of renewal by which Christianity can permeate, live and grow in today's world. It proposes no new type of spirituality but a method through which one's spirituality can be strengthened, lived and shared in all areas of one's environment. A Cursillo weekend begins on a Thursday evening and ends that Sunday night. During the weekend, participants listen to the Gospel message broken into fifteen short talks. Five are given by clergy, and the remaining 10 are given throughout the weekend and given by laypersons who have made a Cursillo. Men and women make separate weekends and, in the case of married couples, a husband's weekend usually directly precedes the wife's. A participant should be sponsored by someone who has made a Cursillo. For more information about Cursillo please check out our FAQ's page or visit their website - www.cdopnwacursillo.org.

Liturgical Ministries: . . .

Eucharistic Minister   Everyone 18 years or older is encouraged to become a communion minister. Eucharistic ministers help the celebrant by distributing the body and blood in communion at Mass. Some training is necessary and ministers choose a particular mass time for a month during the year, while being part of a substitute list in the event that a minister can not be at their Mass.
Altar Server   Children in grades 3-12 are encouraged to become Altar Servers. Altar Servers choose a particular mass time for a month, after necessary training. Three servers per mass is optimum, so many children can have the opportunity to serve. Parents should urge their children to serve at mass, and are invited to serve with their children as well. Contact Deacon Jerry for training 755-3605.
Lector   Most lectors commit to the Sundays of one month per year, although there may be opportunities to lector more frequently. Each lector is trained, and has time to practice, while discussing the readings for meaning. As the lector studies and proclaims the readings, their own understanding and insight grows, while strengthening their own faith.
Cross Bearer   The cross bearer leads the processional at the beginning of mass, followed by the altar servers, lector and the celebrant. At the conclusion of mass the cross bearer retrieves the cross and leads the processional out of church.
Usher / Greeter   Welcomes and assists parishioners as they arrive in the gathering area before mass, while handing out song sheets. They also assist parishioners to find seating in the church as it fills up, direct parishioners as they proceed from their seats to receive communion, and perform the collection.
